Living The Natural Life

Hello again, dear readers. So, it seems my last article on international Codex agreements struck a sharp note with many readers. I, like many of you, am not a conspiracy buff; however, I also am not blind to nor ignorant of the power and intent of the pharmaceutical corporations’ desires to monopolize our medical choices to prevent true health freedom. We are, and should continue to be, free to heal ourselves with quality food, water, air, and choices in our lifestyles. Truly, it is at least partially because of so many chemicals in our food, water, and air that our disease rates are soaring. This is also a large reason so many of us realize that a more “natural” approach to our lives is more necessary now than ever.

A “natural” approach? What exactly does that mean? What that means is to recognize that “human mammals” are animals (That’s right! We are animals!!) living on a living planet. The earth is not dead, and neither are we. This process is organically growing. We are either organically growing healthier and stronger in harmony with this process or we are organically degenerating. The quality of life we take in and digest mentally, emotionally, and physically determines the quality or kind of life we express outwardly.

I begin my article in this way as a lead-in to bring light to the evolution of human life through the past several generations. This must and will of course “organically” lead to talk of our children—but for now: The turn of the last century brought to reality many amazing marvels—radio, television, movies, automobiles, airplanes, jets, skyscrapers, and industry of all kinds—and prosperity and power to many. However, there was simultaneously a shadow side—the copper and mercury switches, the gasoline and oil, the subliminal and in-your-face advertising in the media of this new and better life; meanwhile, all of this was polluting our air, water, and soil just as if it wouldn’t hurt a thing. Remember the advertisements for DDT? The salesman came on TV, showing a white gas blowing into a gymnasium full of children and saying, “See, folks, DDT kills bugs, not kids!” How stupid and deceptive. And then there were the cigarette commercials. Finally, drugs and chemicals were created and put on our foods to make them grow faster and more plentifully (forget quality, we want quantity), and on and on. We use radiation to sterilize our food, which, by the way, is imported from thousands of miles away from other countries while many of our own farmers go bankrupt or are paid not to grow! What a mess!

This mess has grown organically to a crescendo now. It has been a slow process of poisoning little by little, but now we are seeing dramatic warnings.

I said this must lead to talk of our children. The children are the most sensitive members of the population, and more and more they are showing us that we have a problem. In fact, America’s children are in the midst of an epidemic of chronic disease and disability. Today, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention admits that one American child in 166 has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. In 1970, autism affected four in 10,000 children. By 1991, 5,000 autistic children were in the public-school system, and by 2001, that number had grown to 94,000! Nine million American children under age 18 have asthma; in 1979 it was 2 million under age 14. Type 2 diabetes and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis are all on the rise. The staggering cost of health care for our children burdened with chronic disease is in the hundreds of billions of dollars now, and what about the lifetime cost? While we are advertising expensive drugs for illness on prime-time TV, no one outside of the natural-foods industry is promoting prevention and treatment through common-sense diet and herbs. Also, the caregivers—the parents—are exhausted and growing sick themselves. Worry, anxiety, fear, and stress, loss of work and income—they generally need as much help as their children. What drug do we have for that? Antidepressants? Antianxiety drugs? What a shortsighted approach.

This is why for 34 years I have worked in and promoted more humane efforts to help our people. We are all to blame and we all need to help! Remember “united we stand”? Now is the time. What a tremendous opportunity we have to change things. So many are suffering and so many are ready to change for the better. So, let this revolution begin!

First. Begin to buy organic foods for you and your family. Also buy organic household products that do not pollute the environment.

Second. Take back control of your kitchen! Clean the oven and refrigerator. Make the place where you prepare your food orderly and peaceful.

Third. Exercise! Earn your food by exercising at least one hour a day. (PS. Take the children; they need it, too!)

Fourth. As you progress, study more about food, water, nutrition, biology (where is your gallbladder anyway?), and herbal healing. While you study would be a good time to do a herbal cleanse. A great product to use is Total Cleanse from Solaray products for blood, lymph, liver, and kidneys. I have used this before with great success. Also, always add a probiotic for your intestines. Among the best, and which I use and recommend, are all of the Nature’s Life liquid acidophilus products. Both the cleanse and acidophilus are cheap and easy to use, plus (a big plus) they are quality products.

Fifth. Parents and children should use a DHA fish-oil Omega 3 product for brain development in fetus, baby, mom, and dad. The best Omega 3 fatty acids I have found are from Nordic Naturals, and the company makes a DHA Omega 3 for both children and adults.

Sixth. The information on magnesium in the last five years has been plentiful. It’s good for nerves, muscles, sleeping, regular bowel movements, back problems, and general nerve conduction. The information goes on and on. A new company (started by an old icon) in the health-food industry is Pure Essence Labs. It makes many great products but the one I am referring to here is called Ionic Fizz Magnesium. This, taken in the evening, is very calming for my nerves, especially after a long day at work.

Seventh. Last, and maybe most important, is what I call spiritual confidence. That is knowing that no matter what, the universe is a beneficent universe. It is always giving, always providing for us, and when we act correctly things will work out, no matter what. The organic universe is to benefit, not to harm.

May we all grow more toward the stars of our greater destinies. In health and peace,
