WaterBy Donald PayneHello again, dear readers, and thank you for all the wonderful comments about the last article in the Lotus Guide. This time we are going to talk about water. Imagine you are thirsty from exercise, or from a day out in our famous Valley summer heat, or maybe you have just woken up in the morning and in your mind you picture a glass of cool delicious water. You take a drink; immediately you feel refreshed and invigorated. Nothing despite all the advertisements that say other wise nothing quenches the thirst like water. Water is so basic to human life that we cannot live without it. In fact, water makes up nearly two-thirds of our total body composition. Astounding!! In my work at S&S Produce, I always remind adults and children of the magnifi cence of their lives, of the amazing function of the human organism. And then, of course, I am forced to remind them that their good habits, or bad, dramatically affect their day-to-day lives. I encourage respect for the gift of life while reminding them to also be aware and cautious. Inevitably I fi nd myself explaining how antioxidant supplements such as Vitamins C and E, Coenzyme Q10 (alpha-lipoic acid), and Omega 3 fatty acids not only slow down the aging process, but like all antioxidants, they also act as But what about water? Well, a big part of my educational routine at work is to inform people of environmental statistics as they relate to our air, food, and water. And friends, while our attention was misdirected, little by little someone poisoned the planet. The Environmental Protection Agency stated in 2001 that there were more than “78,000 highly toxic (manmade) chemicals in the air, food, and water we eat, breathe, and drink every day.” All, of course, usually appeared within acceptable limits but nonetheless industrial-age progress has come at
a great price to our health and environment. Do you see now why we must be cautious and more and more aware? I am proud and happy to say that fortunately, in the natural-foods industry, there are such businesses. In fact, it is our business to support and sell goods that are not only health-giving to you but also to our environment. So, about water. About a dozen years ago all of us in the health-foods industry laughed at but tolerated a new product introduced to us as “bottled water.” I mean we laughed! Who in his or her right mind would buy water in a bottle? But sure enough, it began to sell. Now everywhere you go everyone wants bottled water. Finally-something to drink that is outselling soda pop! But the purity had to be questioned and then refi ned to a point where science, after taking a long look, has come up with an incredible evolution of bottled water. In early 1996, Bill and Michael Holloway were working to develop a water purifi cation method and by accident literally created water with a molecular difference. Typical H2O water clusters are often too large to fi t in the channels of the body’s cells-called aquaporins-but this new water’s smaller H2O clusters enter the aquaporins in the cells and hydrate the cells much more effi ciently. The result? Water that nourishes and hydrates all the cells in the body easily. Wetter water! What a great breakthrough! This water also helps the body process food and nutrients better within the cells and of course would distribute, on a cellular level, all the antioxidants in foods and supplements more efficiently. This new “microclustered” water is called Penta water and is found in health-food stores. Try some and I guarantee you’ll like it. (Also see me at S&S for more information.) I usually drink it myself when I take a combination antioxidant supplement in the hope I will process the supplement better. Several good combinations of antioxidants come from companies that I trust to practice ecological manufacturing procedures. Country Life Vitamins, New Chapter, and Rainbow Light all offer great antioxidant products. As I said, “Support the companies that do not contribute more to our ecological disaster.” You will find products from most of those companies in a good health-food store. No wonder we drink bottled water. I guess it wasn’t a bad idea after all.
